Feeling Friendly

April has been a very friendly month for the Mavs. In the last week, we’ve played friendlies against Unicorns Netball, Surrey Hurricanes and Rushmoor Netball club and we’ve had a great time.

Our few days of friendlies started with Rushmoor who asked to come and help them prepare for a vital regional match. Win it, and they’d have a chance of staying up whereas a loss would likely mean demotion so we were happy to help.

It was a fantastic evening of netball and all the Mavs who came along got time on court as we played a testing match of seven ‘quarters’. Rushmoor loved the challenge we provided and we got valuable match practice with new combinations stepping up. Olivia Towey made her Mavs debut in style and we look to have found a stealth shooting option in Rob Lockwood. Great work Mavs!

After a few days of downtime, we hit the road again and made our way to a meet up with our friends at Surrey Hurricanes and Unicorns Netball. This was a full afternoon of matchplay and more Mavs made their club debuts. Nikki Coleman, Hannah Copperthwaite and Vic Knapp looked like they were born Mavs from the first whistle!

This was another valuable set of friendly matches. We were able to test our strong combinations and line ups and those performed brilliantly while newer connections had space to build and adjust to in-game challenges. The whole afternoon was a massive success, with good vibes all around.

It’s fun to be friendly!
